Mission

Prepare God’s people for works of service.

(Ephesians 4:11-13) “It was he [Christ] who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Objectives

(2 Peter 1:3, 4) “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature; having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Authority

The Bible

God’s written revelation to man is our authority and standard for Christian life in the Kingdom. As such, God’s Word is the only authority for all classes, lessons, and discussions of the education program at Jenks Avenue Church of Christ.

(2 Timothy 3:16, 17) “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Elders

The Elders of Jenks Avenue Church of Christ guide and oversee the spiritual education and training of this body of believers. (see p. 3)

(Titus 1:7a, 9) “Since an Elder manages God’s household . . . He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”
